Ran middle distance in college with a PB of 1:52 for the 800 meters, then continued running with varying degrees of seriousness throughout my 20's and 30's. Moved up in distance and even ran three marathons (2:43 PB). Now just trying to stay in shape and find balance in life in my 40's.
Short-Term Running Goals: Work out 30 minutes a day, six days a week

Canal banks + Borah track - 45+
Not much time to run today. Tried to do something of moderate quality, without overdoing it. I ran 5 of the 7 miles at a 6:13/mile average, a bit under my marathon goal pace. I felt a bit better than yesterday so that's encouraging. Nice warm, sunny day again today. |

A.M. - Canal banks - 20+
Easy jog with Leo. He did pretty well - chased a few ducks and swam quite a bit - and I felt OK for 6 a.m., so I'm calling it a success
P.M. - Greenbelt - 46:05
Started at BSU and went upstream onto the dirt section. Went out 25 minutes then came back at a tempo pace for about 20 minutes (3.4 miles @ 5:56/mile pace). Finished with a 1.5 mile walk with Emily. |

Greenbelt - 46:25
Had the city track meet today, which finished up just before 9 p.m. Left the stadium and got my run in. Stopped in Municipal Park for 6 x 20 second strides on the grass, then did 6 more strides on Warm Springs Golf Course. Wore my new Nike Triax Structure. Shin still in a lot of pain but it's not bad enough to stop running. |

| Canal banks + treadmill - 1:10 Took an easy jog with Leo on the canals for 18 minutes, then did 52 monotonous minutes on the treadmill at home. Recovery day. Sleep pattern has been horrible this week. |

Greenbelt - 1:49
Had a nice run tonight on a great evening. Did 6 miles relaxed at 7:15/mile pace, then did 8 miles right around goal marathon pace (6:17/mile) before doing an easy 2 mile cooldown. Ran out on the stretch past Warm Springs Golf Course all the way up toward Lucky Peak. Felt pretty strong and I'm happy with the workout. |

Run to Gold's and back + treadmill - 1:10
Easy recovery run at 9 pm. Shin sore while I was on the treadmill so I just slowed it down to a managable pace and that seemed to take care of it.

| 2.5 mile wo, 10 x 400, 1.5 mile wd Jogged an easy warmup with Leo, then did a workout on the track. I want to work on some easy intervals at 5k pace for the next few weeks before the marathon. I did all the 400s at 1:18/1:19 and took a 400 jog in about 2 minutes. It was pretty windy, but a nice workout to turn the legs over. Shin real sore on warmdown. P.M. - Was going to do a 30 minute run, but hiked in Twin Falls instead. |
